Some people dread mornings. They fear and hate the sound of an alarm clock. You may be one of those people. You hit the snooze button over and over as if you get paid for every time you hit it. If we hate waking up so much, why do we do it over and over again? What you may not realize is, that by hitting the snooze button and dragging yourself through your first hour of being awake, you may be setting yourself up for a bad day.
I have always been a morning person. I used to annoy my friends and coworkers when I would see them on early mornings with a big smile on my face and ready to talk. I’ve never fully understood the posts on social media with phrases like, “You may not speak until I get my first cup of coffee.” Or, “Coffee is life.” Honestly, I’m not much of a coffee person, I am more of a tea person. Besides that, I rarely need any form of caffeine in the morning and I start most mornings at 5am.
When you hear about quarterly goals what do you think of? Typically quarterly goals and reports are meant for companies. You might hear about quarterly sales goals from your boss, or quarterly earnings from a company you have stock invested in. What about personal quarterly goals?
Everyone’s New Years resolutions have come and went. Now everyone just walks through the rest of the year, waiting until December to come up with a new goal for January. Why not come up with a new quarter goal? New Years Resolutions always sound great because its easy to say, “New Year. New Me.” Well we just started new quarter, so why not, “New Quarter, New Me.”?
Why is it that one of the most valuable resources we have is just wasted away by so many people? People just throw it away as if there is an unlimited supply of it, only to regret it later when it runs out. What resource am I talking about? I am talking about the undervalued resource of time.
We are given over 1400 minutes a day, yet we waste a lot of that on social media and watching television. Many people do not place an actual value on time. We typically judge the value of everything by money. Before we buy a new TV we want to know what it will cost us. What will it cost me if I go out to a restaurant tonight? What we don’t ask is what will sitting around the house for the next few hours cost me?
The world is full of enemies. Some of them we know like that guy you are competing for a promotion with. Or the guy who stole your favorite yogurt out of the fridge even though you wrote in big letters “DO NOT TOUCH”. Some we don’t know
Dreaming is such a wonderful thing. We can create images from our wildest imaginations. For some of us dreaming always takes place at night, but for others we dream during the day. Sometimes on our way to work, while we are at work, or maybe when we are at school working on a ten page paper about who we want to be when we grow up.
